Hello, I'm Tempestt.
I am a multi-media artist whose work centers on the representation of people of color through themes of bravery, resilience, pain, and humanity layered through an Afrofuturist Lense. Through fine art paintings, mixed-media collages, illustrations, and book projects, I capture moments that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.
My practice seeks to create visual narratives that honor lived experiences I know personally while inviting viewers to reflect on their own; to maybe find what I've always seen, we are more alike than we are different.
Art, for me, is a sacred bridge between spirit and story, a language of empathy and restoration that speaks beyond words.
With Love,

My Story
Since I was a child, I have always been an observer. Fascinated by how people react to the same situation in completely different ways. I understood, at a very early age, that if you have never seen anything different from your circumstances, it can be difficult, if not impossible, to see life any differently. My work explores the relationship between race, class, and female identity. I draw from my own experiences, those of my family and friends, as well as inspirations like Frida Kahlo and Elizabeth Catlett, who, through their artwork and life, expressed the complex psyche of a woman born in a male dominated society. It is my hope to create art that changes the narrative and puts people who look like me in roles that show our bravery, our pain, our resilience, and our humanity.
